GOTS acclaimed Test Winner by Stiftung Warentest

GOTS has been ranked best in the test ‘Traceability of Clothing with Textile Seals’ conducted by the German consumer product testing organisation Stiftung Warentest. GOTS was the only one to offer complete transparency and traceability while complying with strict social and ecological criteria at all stages of production.

GOTS Bangladesh Seminar 2019 in September 

The seminar with the theme ‘Connecting for Success’ brings together textile supply-chain key players, facilitating valuable connections. To join, spots must be saved under registration now! Amongst the speakers will be representatives from Stanley & Stella, C&A*, Julius Huepeden, and Britacel. Some speaker/panellist slots are still available, open slots are marked with an * in the Seminar Agenda. National as well as international experts, from different sections of the supply-chain, including social and labour experts, are invited to speak.

GOTS Revision Process well underway

The first phase of the GOTS 6.0 revision process is complete. The Standards Committee is currently deliberating on the over 270 submitted comments. The second revision draft will be presented for comments in October. GOTS Version 6.0 is scheduled to be released in spring 2020.

Neonyt

GOTS at Neonyt and XOOM in Berlin

Together with brands, speakers and visitors GOTS joined the conversation around social responsibility and ecology in fashion at the Neonyt and Xoom in Berlin, from 2 - 4th July. Progressive topics and events about fashion, sustainability and innovation were covered and GOTS contributed to a panel and a brand talk.

GOTS Sustainability Partner at the ChromaTexChem in India

The ChromaTexChem, India´s first ever dedicated forum to textile dyes and chemicals, will take place on the 14 and 15 November in Mumbai. GOTS will be one of the sustainability partners at the ChromaTexChem this year. The show provides an exhibition platform for textile dyes and the chemical industry, inviting representatives and peers from allied sectors. Throughout the fair GOTS Representative Sumit Gupta will be present at the GOTS booth.

Textile Exchange´s Corporate Fibre and Material Benchmark Survey open 

Textile Exchange´s Corporate Fibre and Material Benchmark helps companies to measure, manage and integrate a preferred fibre and materials strategy into mainstream business operations. Progress can be monitored, linked to the SDGs and communicated to the stakeholders. The new and improved Corporate Fibre & Materials Benchmark is now open for 2019 submissions until July 19. All brands and retailers interested in sustainable textiles are invited to contribute.

Organic Fibre showed strongest Growth in the US Organic Non-food Segment

The Organic Trade Association published a survey examining organic food sales and the organic non-food segment in the US. Results showed that organic sales in the US grew 6,3% in 2018 with non-food products seeing a boost of 10,6%. The strongest growth in the non-food category came from fibre, accounting for 40 percent of the organic non-food market. Demand for clean labels and according standards is growing which is also visible in a rise of 25% in 2018 of US based GOTS-certified facilities.

Publication of Contact Details in GOTS Database

Due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) personal data had to be made invisible in the GOTS public database which serves as an important sourcing tool. Certification Bodies who maintain the GOTS database must obtain prior consent from the Certified Entities to publish commercial contact data. Consent can either be given in due course of fresh certification or renewal, or Certified Entities may contact their responsible Certification Body to give permission to make commercial contact data visible again.

27-29 July 2019, Hofheim am Taunus, Germany: At the Innatex GOTS will be present with a booth.
