Global Regulations Specialist (full-time)

Remote position with occasional travel

Job Overview: We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Global Regulations Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in not only ensuring that our sustainability standards are always aligned with current and emerging global, regional and national legislation but keep us instrumental in helping companies to demonstrate compliance with those laws and beyond.

The Global Regulations Specialist will

  • monitor relevant legislation and
  • engage in lobbying efforts.


Your Key Responsibilities include:

1. Legislation Monitoring:

  • Continuously monitor and analyse global, regional and national legislative and regulatory developments relevant for sustainability and environmental standards.
  • Provide timely updates and reports on relevant legislation, policies, and regulatory changes that may impact our standards and practices.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of global regulatory requirements and trends within the textile sector.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and legal experts as needed.


2. Advocacy and Lobbying:

  • Develop and implement lobbying strategies to influence legislation and policies.
  • Represent the organization in meetings with policymakers, industry groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare policy briefs, position papers, and other advocacy materials to support lobbying efforts.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and legal experts as needed.

 
3. Standard Development:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure that our sustainability standards consider the latest regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Provide expert guidance on regulatory implications during the development and revision of standards.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify areas where current standards may not meet emerging legislative requirements.

 
4. Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including government agencies, industry associations, NGOs, and other relevant organizations.
  • Participate in relevant forums, conferences, and working groups to stay informed about regulatory trends and advocate for our positions.

 
5. Reporting and Documentation:

  • Prepare regular reports on regulatory activities, progress, and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all regulatory monitoring, standard development, and lobbying activities.
  • Contribute to the development of communication materials to inform stakeholders about regulatory changes and our responses.


Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Law, Public Policy, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, or a related role, preferably within the sustainability sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant global, regional and national regulations and sustainability standards, preferably related to the textiles sector.
  • Proven experience in lobbying and advocacy, with a strong network of contacts in the regulatory and policymaking communities.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
