Stuttgart, Germany -

Global Standard, the non-profit organisation behind the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), will launch the public consultation for a new voluntary sustainability standard, the Global Responsible Textile Standard (GRTS), on Monday, 14 July 2025.

This marks a significant expansion of Global Standard’s mission to drive the highest levels of social and environmental impact across the global textile value chain.

GRTS is designed to extend the core principles and proven certification infrastructure of GOTS to a broader range of responsible fibres that do not fall under the organic category. The new standard upholds rigorous requirements on environmental protection, social responsibility, due diligence, traceability, and third-party verification, while enabling companies to meet rising expectations with minimal administrative burden.

Full details, including access to the draft standard and implementation manual, will be published on 14 July, along with a feedback form open to all stakeholders.
