Companies successfully connect at the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) Round Table in Germany
Press Release
Bielefeld, 4th December 2019
"Advertise and communicate with GOTS” was the topic of the GOTS round table held on 3rd December 2019 in Frankfurt, Germany organized by Franziska Dormann, GOTS Representative in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Around 40 participants from the German-speaking region came together to discuss consumer communication, communication with GOTS and to further develop communication strategies and tools. All workshop participants agreed that further communication tools and targeted communication for consumers are necessary to increase awareness around GOTS.
"The exchange during the event was important to gain valuable input from the base, namely the companies, about the need for more communication tools. Only through collaboration will we be able to further raise the profile of GOTS", concluded Franziska Dormann.
The GOTS regional Representatives organize events around the world to bring together stakeholders and to receive feedback on the specific needs of market participants.
About GOTS: GOTS is the stringent voluntary global standard for the entire post-harvest processing (including spinning, knitting, weaving, dyeing and manufacturing) of apparel and home textiles made with certified organic fibre (such as organic cotton and organic wool), and includes both environmental and social criteria. Key provisions include a ban on the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), highly hazardous chemicals (such as azo dyes and formaldehyde), and child labour, while requiring strong social compliance management systems and strict waste water treatment practices. GOTS was developed by leading international standard setters - Organic Trade Association (U.S.), Japan Organic Cotton Association, International Association Natural Textile Industry (Germany), and Soil Association (UK) to define globally-recognised requirements that ensure the organic status of textiles, from field to finished product.
GOTS is a non-profit organisation which is self-financed. For more information please see www.global-standard.org and follow @globalorganictextilestandard on LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
